Mohammad-Reza Sarhadi, the director of government health insurance in Chabahar, was the target of automatic-gun fire from more than one assailant.
Sarhadis situation is said to be critical and he continues to be in a coma.
He is currently under special guard.
There has not been an official reaction to the shooting.
