London, Oct. 10 – Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari will visit Iran sometime after October 22, Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported on Monday.

Zebari was quoted as saying that he would make a trip to Iran after the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which began on September 22.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister made the announcement after a meeting in Baghdad with Iranian ambassador Hassan Kazemi Qomi.

Qomi, who until recently was Iran’s charge d’affaires in Iraq, is a veteran officer of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and was once the IRGC’s liaison to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The United States and Iraqi officials routinely blame Tehran for aiding Shiite militias responsible for dozens of assassinations every day.
