VIENNA, Austria (AP) Diplomats say Iran has assembled hundreds of advanced centrifuges for uranium enrichment, a step meant to speed up the process that can produce both fuel and the fissile core of nuclear warheads.
The diplomats say more than 300 centrifuges have been linked up in two units and a third unit is being worked on. They spoke on condition of anonymity because their information is confidential.
They said none of the machines have been installed at Iran’s main underground uranium enrichment plant. Two diplomats spoke to The Associated Press earlier this week and a third spoke to the AP on Thursday.
