WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. State and Treasury Departments will hold a 1700 GMT (6 p.m. BST) briefing Wednesday on implementing a U.N. Security Council resolution that imposes sanctions on Iran for failing to curb its nuclear program.
A State Department statement said U.S. officials "will discuss a Treasury designation under Executive Order 13382. This designation will serve to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1803 of March 2008."
The statement gave no additional details. Executive Order 13382 allows the U.S. government to take steps to freeze the assets of people involved in, or supporting, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
