ImageGENEVA (AP) — Iran's former nuclear negotiator says his country wants talks on its nuclear program to continue if Western countries are willing to return to the negotiating table.

Ali Larijani, now Iran's parliamentary speaker, says the country is prepared to negotiate but cannot accept what he described as "conditions that were impossible to achieve."

Last month, the U.N. Security Council unanimously approved a resolution reaffirming previous sanctions on Iran for refusing to halt its uranium enrichment program. The U.S. and many of its allies fear Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons. Tehran denies this.

Larijani told journalists in Geneva on Tuesday that the latest resolution undermines the Security Council's credibility.
