ImageWASHINGTON (AP) — British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is calling again on Iran to suspend its nuclear program.

In a formal address to Congress on Wednesday, Brown said the U.S. and Britain are ready for Tehran to rejoin the world community and to stop threatening peace. He says London and Washington will work tirelessly with the international community to reduce the general threat of nuclear proliferation.

Iran denies that it wants to build a bomb. It has asserted that its nuclear program is intended to provide the country with the ability to meet energy needs with reactors.
