TEHRAN (UPI) — Iran’s foreign minister said Wednesday talks regarding Iran’s nuclear program will continue, and a new negotiating team will be formed.

Speaking to the Iranian Students News Agency, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said stalled talks with international mediators from six countries – Germany and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, the United States, Russia, France, China and Britain — have gone on for years and will continue. He added Iran will form a new negotiating team after the installation of its new president, Hassan Rouhani.

The mediators have made it clear they are willing to resume talks, Russia’s ITAR-Tass news agency reported.

Tuesday, Baroness Catherine Ashton, European Union High representative for Foreign and Security Policy, said the six countries await the new negotiators from Iran.

Western media speculated the continuation of the talks was dependent on the outcome of the election, Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency noted.
