TEHRAN – Iran said on Monday that it was well-prepared for “any scenario” over nuclear issue, the official IRNA news agency reported.
“I believes that Iran’s case will not be referred to the UN Security Council. But, Iran is also well-prepared beforehand for any scenario in this respect,” government spokesman Abdollah Ramezanzadeh was quoted as saying.
“The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is fully aware of the Iranian nuclear program and the agency has taken for granted that its safeguards are observed in Iranian nuclear sites,”Ramezanzadeh said.
On Oct. 6, Hassan Rowhani, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council and chief nuclear negotiator, also posed the same stance by saying that Iran was ready for confrontation or negotiation.
Iran, being accused by the US of developing nuclear weapons secretly, has been trying its best to clear itself and avoid the possible referral of its case from the IAEA to the UN Security Council.
The IAEA last month adopted a resolution, urging Iran to suspend all of the activities related to uranium enrichment and fully cooperate with the inspectors.
The resolution was rejected by Iran, who was angered and termed it as “illegal.”
