London, Jan. 28 – British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw stated once again on Saturday that Iran may be referred to the Untied Nations Security Council for breaching its international obligations vis-à-vis its nuclear program.

Asked what he believed Iran’s nuclear ambitions were, the British Foreign Secretary told the BBC’s Radio 4, “We think that they are developing a nuclear weapons capability”.

Straw said that Tehran had to provide “objective guarantees” that its nuclear program would not lead to a nuclear weapons capability because of its “unquestionable record of deceit in the past”.

He said that London was seeking to have Iran’s nuclear file referred to the United Nations Security Council at the upcoming February 2-3 meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s board of governors if Tehran did not change its position.

Straw ruled out the possibility of military attacks against Iran’s suspected nuclear weapons facilities.
