Tehran, Iran, Feb. 02 – Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, speaking in the southern province of Bushehr, said on Thursday that the world’s major powers had to disarm their nuclear arsenals.

“We seek the disarmament of the big powers”, Ahmadinejad said at a rally in the town of Jam.

“We claim that the big powers’ chemical and biological weapons must be destroyed along with their nuclear weapons”.

“What kind of a distressful atmosphere is this that has been created for certain countries? Why must there be an arms race?”

“Weaker countries are forced to build armies to defend themselves from possible enemy threats instead of education and welfare. What kind of a system is this?”

“They think that they can rule the world through bullying”, Ahmadinejad said, adding that Tehran would stand in the face of such aggression as the “flag-bearer of the nations”.
