Tehran, Iran, Feb. 28 – Iran announced on Tuesday that it would not abandon uranium enrichment on its own soil and its quest to acquire nuclear fuel cycle.

“The officials of the Islamic Republic will never abandon our country’s right to uranium enrichment”, the state news agency IRNA quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki as having told Iranian businessmen in Japan.

Mottaki arrived in Tokyo on Monday for three days of talks with Japanese officials over Tehran’s nuclear program.

“The era of bullying is over”, he said.

Mottaki said that with regard to Iran’s nuclear program, the United Nations Security Council must not become a “political tool” in the hands of the West.

“Our effort are aimed at preventing Iran’s nuclear file from going to the Security Council but you must know that under no circumstances will be abandon our right”, he added.
