Tehran, Iran, Jun. 08 – Iran’s radical President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday that Tehran was not willing to hold talks over its national “rights”, a reference to its uranium enrichment activities. His speech was aired on state television.

“We will not hold talks about our legitimate rights with anyone. Rather, our objective from holding talks is to discuss global issues”, Ahmadinejad told a gathering at an arena in the city of Qazvin.

“They (the West) speak as if they have given our nation a great concession because they announced that they recognise the Iranian nation’s right to have the nuclear fuel cycle and that now we are indebted to them and they must extract a concession from the Iranian nation”, he said.

“They should not imagine that they have given us a concession by holding talks with us. Instead, they must know that it is the Iranian nation that has accepted to talk to them on global issues and has given them a concession”, he added.

“You must know that this nation is standing firm regarding all its rights and will not retreat an iota over its legitimate rights”, he said, addressing the West.

Ahmadinejad said that Tehran was interested in discussing the root of corruption and oppression, especially in “Palestine, Iraq, and Afghanistan”, in any possible talks with the United States.
