Tehran, Iran, Jul. 25 Irans Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said on Tuesday that Majlis, or parliament, would reconsider its approach over its membership in the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if its nuclear dossier was sent before the United Nations Security Council.
If Irans nuclear file is referred to the Security Council and we see that the negotiating parties use the language of threat instead of following the path of negotiations, naturally Majlis will reconsider its methods regarding the nuclear issue, Haddad-Adel told reporters at a press conference.
Any cooperation by the government with the International Atomic Energy Agency such as continuing its membership of the NPT and cooperation in the framework of the Additional Protocol is dependent on the approval of and adoption by Majlis. If Majlis assesses that there will be no benefit for the country in continuing to cooperate with the IAEA and that we are simply a partner that is always losing out in every deal, it will not see the continuation of this condition as in our interest, he said.
