Tehran, Iran, Aug. 21 Irans Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced on Monday that Tehran would continue with its nuclear work despite the looming August 31 deadline set by the United Nations Security Council for it to suspend uranium enrichment.
With its experience and achievements over the past 27 years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made up its mind. On the nuclear program and other issues it is up against it will continue powerfully on its path, putting its faith in God and with patience and perseverance, and it will see its sweet fruit, Khamenei said. His remarks were reported on state television.
The Security Council adopted a legally-binding resolution on July 31 warning Tehran that it could face sanctions if it did not suspend all uranium enrichment activities by August 31.
