Iran denies exile group’s claims it has made thousands of centrifuges

AP: Iran on Saturday rejected allegations by a dissident group that the country had manufactured thousand of centrifuges capable of enriching uranium to make nuclear weapons. Earlier this week the National Council of Resistance of Iran said Tehran was working round the clock to build centrifuges and was storing thousands of the devices that already were manufactured.

Iran Focus: Tehran, Aug. 19 – In a letter to the United Nations human rights office in Geneva, a copy of which was sent to Iran Focus, residents in the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbass accused the country’s new Minister of the Interior-designate of ordering the summary execution of dozens of young people in the city to put down an anti-government riot in 1981 and demanded an international inquiry into the incident. The letter named 48 of the victims of executions.

Hamid-Reza Asefi, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, told reporters during his press conference that the Islamic Republic also wanted to negotiate about its suspended activities at its uranium enrichment site in Natanz, central, Iran.
