US warns Iran on resumption of nuclear work

AFP: The United States warned Monday that it would take Iran
to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions if Tehran resumes sensitive nuclear work that can be a key step toward building an atomic bomb. “If they’re not going to abide by their agreement and obligations, then we would have to look to the Security Council,” White House spokesman Scott McClellan said of the possible resumption of uranium enrichment by Iran.

Europe seeking ‘clarifications’ in Iran nuclear standoff

AFP: Britain is “seeking clarifications” of Iran’s nuclear plans after Tehran announced it is set to resume sensitive atomic work in breach of an accord with the European Union, a spokesman said Monday. The British Foreign Office, which warned at the weekend that such a move could jeapordize crucial EU-Iran nuclear talks, said it was studying a letter sent by Tehran to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iran Focus: Tehran, Iran, Aug. 01 – The jailed human rights lawyer Abdolfattah Soltani is being charged with giving away Iran’s nuclear secrets, a government-owned daily wrote on Monday.
Soltani, who was nabbed by plainclothes policemen on Saturday, is the lawyer for the family of slain Iranian-Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi, who was murdered in Evin Prison in July 2003.
