Iran Focus: Paris, Jul. 28 – Iran is secretly acquiring a rare form of ultra-strong steel to use as casing for nuclear bombs it is manufacturing, an Iranian opposition figure said Thursday at a press conference in Paris. Mohammad Mohaddessin, who chairs the foreign affairs committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said that Tehran was “trying to obtain maraging steel both through smuggling from abroad and by producing it inside the country”.

Khatami criticises dissident’s hunger strike

AFP: Iran’s outgoing reformist President Mohammad Khatami on Wednesday criticised the “obstinacy” of dissident jailed journalist Akbar Ganji in continuing a one-and-a-half month hunger strike. “We are truly awaiting for Mr Ganji to stop his hunger strike and put himself forward to the judicial authorities so that he can use his prerogatives but he has refused to halt his hunger strike,” Khatami told reporters.
