London, 4 Jul – On Monday, at 20.35 local time, Camp Liberty, which houses members of the main Iranian opposition group, People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK), came under a sustained rocket attack.
A number of camp residents were injured, but, there are no reports of any fatalities, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) said in a statement on Monday.
Carried out by the militias affiliated with the Iranian regime, more than 50 rockets were fired at Camp Liberty, the NCRI said. Parts of the camp were set ablaze. Reports suggest that a number struck an area near the camp.
The rocket attack comes on the eighth day of a blockade of the camp by Iraqi security forces. Soldiers prevented fuel, food and medicine from reaching Camp Liberty, the NCRI said. The blockade continues.
Tonight’s attack was conducted by Iraqi forces co-operating closely with the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the NCRI statement added. The notorious Quds Force conducts terrorism on behalf of the Iranian regime, it said.
