Tehran, Iran, Feb. 06 – Irans chief nuclear negotiator will take part in an annual security conference in Munich later this week but will not hold talks with officials from the United States, the official news agency IRNA quoted him as saying.
Ali Larijani, secretary general of Irans Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), made the announcement in Tehran at a joint press conference with radical Iraqi Shiite cleric Abdul Aziz al-Hakim.
Asked if he would attend the 43rd Munich Conference on Security Policy and hold talks with U.S. officials, Larijani said, The answer to the first question is yes. But it is no to the second question.
U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates will also be attending the conference which is held every year and will convene this year between February 9 and 11.
Western media reported on Tuesday that this year the event will host numerous political leaders including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
