Tehran, Iran, Jan. 14 Five Chinese banks have resumed their deals with Iran, state media quoted the head of the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce as saying on Sunday.
Of the 12 Chinese banks that severed their ties with the country due to political reasons, five have restarted their transactions, Assadollah Asgar-Owladi told the government-owned news agency Fars.
Asgar-Owladi said that at present 40 percent of problems between Iranian and Chinese banks, caused by sanctions imposed on Tehran by the United Nations Security Council, had been resolved.
The Security Council has imposed two sets of sanctions on Iran for its refusal to halt its uranium enrichment activities which the West suspects is part of a nuclear weapons program.
