Bus, fuel tanker collision leaves 22 dead in south-west Iran

Tehran, Iran, Mar. 17 – A passenger bus collided with a fuel truck on a highway in south-western Iran leaving 22 people dead and seven others injured, state media reported on Sunday.

The accident occurred on a stretch of road in the province of Khuzestan Saturday night, the official news agency IRNA said.

The report said that the bus was carrying students.

Iran’s highways are considered to be among the most dangerous in the world, with some 100,000 road-accident deaths occurring in the last five years, the equivalent of three deaths an hour.
