London, Jun. 28 – The European Union on Friday urged Iran to halt executions of juvenile offenders.
The EU "deeply regrets that yet another juvenile offender is in imminent threat of execution. Mr Selah Taseh was sentenced to death for a crime committed when he was a minor", said a statement by Slovenia, which currently holds the EU’s rotating presidency.
The 27-nation bloc urged Tehran to immediately halt the execution of Taseh and all other juvenile offenders on death row, including Saeed Jazee, Mohammad Fadaei, Behnoud Shojaee, Behnam Zare and Abu Moslem Sohrabi.
The EU said that all juvenile death sentences are "in direct contravention of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s international obligations and commitments".
