ImageTehran, Iran, Apr. 23 – A student at Tehran's prestigious Amir Kabir (Politechnic) University was arrested earlier this week by security forces, student activists told Iran Focus.

Armed security agents arrested Masoud Dehqan during a raid on his home in the early hours on Tuesday, a fellow student told Iran Focus by email.

The agents ransacked his house and confiscated numerous personal belongings, according to the student.

Dehqan is a member of the university's Islamic Association.

The student who contacted Iran Focus also expressed concern regarding the deteriorating health of Ismail Salman-Pour, another member of Amir Kabir's Islamic Association who is currently in detention for attempting to participate in a banned commemorative event on February 6.

The student said Salman-Pour had become frail and his hair was shaven off. He was transferred to a prison medical clinic on Tuesday, the student added. Salman-Pour had been kept in isolation and has not been allowed family visits or meetings with his lawyer.

A women's right activist and her brother are currently languishing in Tehran's notorious Evin Prison.

Shabnam Madadzadeh, a student active for women's rights, and her brother Farzad Madadzadeh have since 19 February been held in solitary confinement in Evin's infamous Ward 209, which houses political prisoners.

Their relatives say they had a brief chance to talk to them on Monday, but were concerned that the siblings were being told what to say over the phone. The relatives said that the pair were told to urge their family not to pursue their case at the courts until they were told to do so.
