ImageReuters: Italian oil and gas company Eni SpA on Thursday denied a report it is ready to sign a $1.5 billion contract in Iran to develop the Darkhovin field.

ImageROME, May 21 (Reuters) – Italian oil and gas company Eni SpA on Thursday denied a report it is ready to sign a $1.5 billion contract in Iran to develop the Darkhovin field.

"That report is false," chief executive Paolo Scaroni said on the sidelines of an event.

Earlier, Italian daily Finanza & Mercati, citing the website of Iranian TV, said Eni was ready to sign a contract with the Iranian government to invest $1.5 billion in the third phase of development of the Darkhovin field. (Reporting by Rome newsroom; Editing by Dan Lalor)
