ImageTehran, Iran, Jun. 12 – An Iranian Kurdish man was sentenced to over six years in prison on charges of acting against national security and spreading propaganda against the government.

Sayed Kamal Mohammadi, 38, from the north-western town of Salmas, was sentenced earlier this month by a local Revolutionary Court to seven years in prison, of which he has already served six months while awaiting the sentence.

Mohammadi has said that he was under intolerable pressure and abuse while in prison and has not had access to a lawyer, according to human rights activists.

Separately, Kurdish political activist Mansour Mohammadi was sentenced to five years in prison in exile by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court in Orumieh, north-western Iran.

He will be exiled to Bandar Abbas Prison in the south of the country. He was charged with supporting dissident groups and spreading propaganda against the government.

The same court also recently sentenced Rahman Rahim Poor, a resident of Saqqez and student at Orumieh University to three years in prison on charges of cooperating with opposition groups and spreading propaganda against the government.
