ImageWASHINGTON (AFP) — US President Barack Obama said Friday the United States will continue to ratchet up the pressure on Iran over its nuclear program but would do so with unified international backing.

In an interview with CBS television's "Early Show," Obama said increasing Iran's isolation would have an effect on its economy.

"I have said before that we don't take any options off the table, and we're going to continue to ratchet up the pressure and examine how they respond," he said.

"But we're going to do so with a unified international community — that puts us in a much stronger position."
