BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s foreign minister has urged Iran to comply with its international duties and show full transparency regarding its nuclear program.

Guido Westerwelle told journalists on Friday that Iran still lacks the necessary transparency on its nuclear ambitions.

Westerwelle said Iran has shown increased interest to engage in new talks, “but whether that will lead to concrete discussions remains to be seen.”

The foreign minister spoke alongside the visiting head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano.

Amano criticized Iran’s recent rejection of some of the IAEA’s nuclear inspectors.

Iran is under U.N. sanctions for refusing to stop its uranium enrichment and ignoring demands meant to ease global concerns that it is seeking to make atomic weapons.
