Tehran, Iran, Oct. 18 Some 11 people have been arrested in the north-western Iranian province of Ardebil, the Judiciarys Public Relations Office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Quoting authorities in Ardebil, the Judiciary said the trouble-makers and seditious elements in society were arrested on various charges, including distribution of alcohol and creating trouble.
Iranian officials often refer to millions of unemployed young men, who are often beset by frustration and despair, as trouble-makers and seditious elements.
Since early September, a Plan to Combat Trouble-makers has been in effect in the Iranian capital Tehran. The plan was recently expanded nationwide.
Thousands of young men have been arrested during the crackdown and hundreds have been sentenced in special Islamic courts and jailed.
