London, Feb. 02 – British Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Wednesday that the West had decided to report Iran to the United Nations Security Council for breaching its international obligations regarding its suspected nuclear weapons program.

“We have agreed with our partners to report Iran to the UN Security Council because of what that country is doing in breach of its international obligations”, Blair told the British parliament at Prime Minister’s Question Time.

“But it is also important that we send a signal of strength”, he added.

Blair accused Tehran of “exporting terrorism around the region”.

“It must come back into compliance with its international obligations”, he said.

“As I say, we are pursuing that in the UN Security Council, but it is important that Iran understands that this House is united in determining that it should not be able to carry on flouting its international obligations”.
