Tehran, Iran, Feb. 07 – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that the international community had lost its dignity by sending the Islamic Republic’s nuclear file to the Untied Nations Security Council.

Speaking to a crowd of commanders of Iran’s Air Force, Khamenei said that Tehran would not be intimidated by the West’s threats against its nuclear program, the state-run Mehr news agency reported.

“The Iranian nation will move steadfastly in the path of dignity, national sovereignty and independence with power, patience, and prudence, unfazed with threats of any kind”, he said.

Khamenei blasted the international community after the 35-nation board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency voted overwhelmingly on Saturday to report Iran’s suspected nuclear weapons program to the Security Council.

“Unfortunately, the international community lost its and dignity because of the penetration of the ruling powers. While the West once approved the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, they in fact scrapped it by taking the action on Saturday”.

“Today, the capabilities of the Iranian nation and its youths in obtaining indigenous and splendid nuclear technology have heavily shocked the Hegemon and Arrogance (the West). There recent ballyhoo and commotion is because of this shock, since the ruling powers do not want to see nations mastering scientific capabilities of their own”.

Khamenei said that Tehran refused to hear or tolerate the West’s demands on the nuclear front.

He defended hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s decision to issue a presidential directive to the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran to resume uranium enrichment and end snap inspections by UN monitors.
