Tehran, Iran, Jun. 24 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki rejected as “illogical” a deadline set by the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany on Tehran to announce its decision regarding a package of incentives it had been offered in return for it to suspend uranium enrichment. Mottaki’s comments were reported by the official news agency on Saturday.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that limiting the time for a response to the P5+1’s proposed package to prior to the G8 summit in St. Petersburg or any other session is illogical”, Mottaki said.

The Group of Eight nations are expected to discuss Tehran’s nuclear threat at their summit in Russia which will take place from July 15 to July 17.

Hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that Tehran will wait until August 22 to give its response to the package.
