Tehran, Iran, Jul. 20 – French President Jacques Chirac has met and held talks with Iran’s new ambassador to France, state television reported on Wednesday.

During the meeting with Ali Ahani, Chirac described Paris-Tehran ties as “friendly”, the report said.

He called for an expansion of ties between the two states.

Ahani had previously been Iran’s ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and the European Union.
