Iran Focus originally broke the news of Wahid’s sentence. He is a 16-year-old schoolboy from Damavand (A district of the Iranian capital of Tehran). Wahid was accused of stabbing a man to death, though he alleges that he was trying to defend himself from being attacked.

Mehdi is a 17-year-old boy from Shahr Yar. The latest sentences bring the total number of children on death row at present in Iran to at least 10.

An unnamed teenage girl studying law in the northwestern Iranian city of Mashad, who was accused of killing a young man after a scuffle a few months ago, was sentenced to death in Mashad by a religious judge by the name of Khayatzadeh.

Also a 24-old-woman identified only by her first name, Tayebe, has been sentenced to death in the past few days.

Iranian media have also reported death sentences for two political prisoners from Tehran and Qazvin (Iranian town north of the capital). One of them, Hojjat Zamani is believed to be a member of the main armed Iranian opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, and is accused of instigating public rebellion.
