Tehran, Iran, Sep. 10 – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has appointed its new envoys to Croatia and Finland, official media reported on Sunday.

Mohammad-Hossein Fadaee-Far was appointed as Iran’s new ambassador to Croatia while Reza Nazar Ahari was appointed as its ambassador to Finland.

Both men individually met and held talks with hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the state-run news agency ISNA reported on Sunday.

As part of a purge of the Islamic Republic’s diplomats who did not belong to the ultra-Islamist faction, in October 2005 Ahmadinejad ordered the recalling of 40 of the country’s ambassadors, nearly half of the fleet. These included Iranian ambassadors in European countries, who were involved in Tehran’s nuclear negotiations with the West.
