Tehran, Iran, Oct. 08 – Iran reaffirmed on Sunday that it would under no circumstances suspend uranium enrichment, despite a resolution by the United Nations Security Council ordering it to do so.

“Iran will under no circumstances accept a suspension of uranium enrichment”, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini told reporters at a press conference in Tehran.

He rejected reports that Tehran was considering a three-month suspension of the activity. “Suspension of uranium enrichment has no place in Iran’s peaceful nuclear policies and it will not do so”.

He dismissed the threat of sanctions as “threadbare” and said that Tehran had “gotten used to” such threats.
