Turkey industry min says Iran projects continue

-

Reuters: Turkey’s Industry and Trade Minister Nihat Ergun told NTV broadcaster that joint projects with Iran were continuing and that these would not be affected by United Nations and United States’ sanctions on Iran.

ANKARA, Aug 26 (Reuters) – Turkey’s Industry and Trade Minister Nihat Ergun told NTV broadcaster that joint projects with Iran were continuing and that these would not be affected by United Nations and United States’ sanctions on Iran.

Ankara’s ties with Iran have flourished recently and Turkey, along with Brazil, brokered a last-minute deal with Tehran that they had hoped would delay a fourth round of United Nations sanctions.

However, Western powers earlier this year went ahead and passed another round of sanctions on Iran, which they fear is using a nuclear power programme as a front to develop nuclear weapons.
