The men, identified only by their first names, as brothers Alireza and Amir and Afghan citizen Dolat-Khan, were hanged in a prison in the town of Varamin, 30 kilometres south of Tehran, the official IRNA news agency reported.

They were accused of rape and murder.

According to a report published by Amnesty International in December 2009, human rights in Iran are as poor as at any time over the past 20 years.
