Tehran, Iran, Jul. 02 – Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Sunday that hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will soon travel to Iraq.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi told reporters during his weekly press conference that Ahmadinejad will meet with Iraqi officials to discuss “bilateral issues”.

On Monday, the government-run news agency Fars reported that Ahmadinejad will soon travel to Baghdad to meet and hold talks with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.

The report quoted an “informed source” as saying that Ahmadinejad would hold talks with several top Iraqi officials.

He would lead a large delegation to Baghdad, the report said, adding that several political and economic agreements would be signed between the two states during his trip.
