Tehran, Iran, Mar. 14 – Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Naji al-Ottri arrived in Tehran on Wednesday for bilateral talks with Iranian officials, the official news agency IRNA reported.

Al-Ottri is attending the fifth annual Iran-Syria Superior Committee meeting. The committee is co-chaired by Iran’s First Vice President and the Syrian Prime Minister.

Al-Ottri is being accompanied by the ministers of electricity, agriculture, industries, transport and health. The Syrian ministers of economy and trade as well as oil travelled to Tehran on Monday to attend the eighth round of a joint economic commission.

Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad made an official state trip to Tehran in February, accompanied by the country’s Foreign Minister.

Regional allies Iran and Syria are both accused by the United States of being state sponsors of terrorism.
