Tehran, Iran – Iran is planning to manufacture 80 airplanes to be used for both civilian and military purposes, officials said Monday.
Jaafar Zadwar, deputy chief salesman for the Iranian Institution for Aviation Industry, said a five-year plan calls for 12 “Iran-120” planes to be produced annually.
“Three planes of that types have been manufactured so far and there will be four more during the next year,” the Iranian News Agency, IRNA, quoted Zadwar as saying at the international air fair, Kish Iran, in Tehran.
He said the plane “could be used for military and civilian purposes as well as a flying ambulance, for surveillance and for patrolling the coast.”
It can fly 50,000 hours over 25 years of service.
