ImageROME (Reuters) – Iran will not sign any deals on the sidelines of talks between energy consumers and producers in Rome, Iranian Oil Minister Gholamhossein Nozari said on Sunday.

"We will be discussing some projects with some companies," Nozari said, but asked whether he would be signing any deals, he said "no".

The chief executives of Shell and Total are attending the International Energy Forum, which takes place in Rome from Sunday until Tuesday.

Iran has given the two oil majors an ultimatum, saying they must decide whether to invest in its giant South Pars field or the project would go ahead without them.

Some Iranian news agency reports have said the deadline ran out on Friday, but this has not been confirmed.
