Iran says reports of attack on Iran’s vessel “psychological warfare”

ImageTEHRAN, April 29 (Xinhua) — Iran denied the reports of attack on the country's vessel and called it a "psychological warfare," the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Wednesday.

An Iranian military official denied media reports of an Israeli U.S. missile attack against an Iranian navy ship off Sudan's coast, calling it "psychological warfare," Fars said.

"The report is in line with foreigners' psychological warfare and is unworthy," the informed official told Fars on condition of anonymity.

The report is "false" and it is the "product of a propaganda machine against the Tehran government," the local Satellite Press TV quoted the official in a similar report.

According to an Arab media, an Iranian vessel heading to Sudan and loaded with weapons to transfer to Hamas via that country was recently sunk in the Red Sea by an "unidentified missile ship."

The vessel was attacked by either an Israeli or American ship and destroyed, said a Sunday report in the Egyptian weekly Al-Usbua.

In February, Israel carried out air strikes on Sudan soil and targeted weapons smugglers which then Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert hinted as confirmation.
