ImageDRESDEN, Germany (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama said Friday the United States was ready to engage in "serious dialogue" with Iran and that the moment had come to work toward peace in the Middle East.

"We must avoid a nuclear arms race in the Middle East," Obama said at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the eastern German city of Dresden.
