– Hardliners are planning to eliminate former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani from the Islamic revolution, said senior lawmaker Ali Motahari.

– Defeated presidential candidate Mirhossein Mousavi referred to the tearing up of a picture of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ruhollah Khomeini, as "a suspicious act."
