Tehran, Jun. 12 – Chants of “Allah-o Akbar” (God is the greatest) and “death to the dictator” echoed from rooftops throughout the capital at 23:30 local time on Saturday. The chants were particularly loud in Shahrak-e-Gharb, Sa’adat-Abad, Ekbatan and Gendarmerie districts in west Tehran.

There were also chants challenging Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader.  “Khamenei is a murderer, his velayat (rule) is null and void” and “Khamenei shame on you, let go of our country”.

In Shahrak-e-Gharb fire crackers and sonic grenades were set off by opposition supporters.
