Tehran, Jul. 08 – An anti-government protest has erupted near Tehran University.

Some 150 plain-clothes agents have blocked the main entrance to the university. Large numbers of people were scattered in the vicinity.

Several hundred people began demonstrating in Nosrat Street, leading to the university. They chanted: “Honourable Iranians, support us” and “death to the dictator”.

Police helicopters were hovering overhead and agents were preventing crowds from gathering.

The large numbers of plain-clothes agents have been brought to not give the appearance of a heavy police presence, students said.
