News Advisory:

On Sunday May 22, a conference will be held in Huntington Beach California where hundreds will join leaders of the Iranian Diaspora across California, along with an array of distinguished guests and speakers to voice support for a democratic, secular republic in Iran. The event, which will commence at 2 p.m., will call for a US policy in support of democratic change in Iran.

Organized by the Southern California Society for Democracy in Iran and the Iranian-American Community of Northern California, the conference will host participants from over 50 cities from across California.

Noting the policy platforms by the 2005 National Convention for a Democratic, Secular Republic in Iran, ratified last month in Washington, D.C., the California Conference will also highlight Tehran’s human rights record, support for terrorism and nuclear weapons program.

Recognizing the current debate on Iran policy, ranging between appeasement or foreign military action, the conference will discuss a “third option” for U.S. policy toward Iran: No to Appeasement, No to Foreign War, Yes to democratic change by the Iranian people.

In its call for a united campaign for the common cause of democratic change in Iran, and peace and security in the Middle East and America, the conference has invited political dignitaries to speak at the event.

WHEN: May 22, 2005, 2 p.m.

WHERE: Hotel Hilton, 21100 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach, CA 92648
