Tehran, Iran, Sep. 01 – Iran’s hard-line president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai discussed increasing bilateral ties between the two countries during a phone conversation on Wednesday.
The state-run news agency Fars reported Iran and Afghanistan have recently started to increase their mutual ties in various fields.
Separately Iran’s official state news agency IRNA reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi appealed to all Muslim governments to preserve their unity with increased cooperation to counter “meddling” from foreign nations.
Salehi stated the only way Islamic nations could keep their solidarity was with increased collaboration and unity.
