Tehran, 1 Aug – The Iranian authorities demolished numerous residents’ homes in an impoverished village, last week, leaving many people homeless.

Komb-e Moradabad Village in the Central District of Chabahar County was invaded by the repressive state security forces on Wednesday, 27 July.

The police ordered bulldozers to destroy the houses in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, south-eastern Iran; according to eyewitness accounts, the police forces began their destruction without a warrant or even a second thought for the residents who pleaded for them to stop.

The government claims that the houses were built illegally, but some residents have been there for almost 20 years. The village’s population mainly comprises of Iranian Baluchis who previously lived in Chabahar but were forced to move due to drought and unemployment.

This is not the first time that the authorities have ordered the destruction of homes that were supposedly built illegally.

In December 2015, regime forces arrived in Shahidan-e Danesh-Payeh with 10 loaders and began demolishing the homes.

The village had an officially registered code (711891) and its electricity and water pipes were connected to those of larger cities. Still, the authorities claimed that the village was illegally built.
