Tehran, Iran, Aug. 15 – A group of kindergarten teachers gathered outside Iran’s Majlis on Monday to protest against the Ministry of Education’s decision to fire them.

The teachers from Tehran Province complained that the Ministry of Education discriminated against kindergarten teachers.

A similar protest outside the Majlis was held last week by teachers from the province of Mazandaran, northern Iran.

Teachers, the largest group of government employees in Iran, have been staging strikes and demonstrations for months, as meager salaries, rising costs of living and massive layoffs have taken a toll on their already low-down-the-scale standards of living.
